What Should I Pay Attention to when Choosing a Ski Helmet

The role of the helmet is not only comfortable to wear when sliding, but more importantly, it can prevent head injuries and even save lives. Helmets are usually classified by season according to their characteristics. Ski and snowboard helmets are specially designed for cold weather to keep your head warm and comfortable. You can wear goggles which have been tested and certified to protect you. Now more and more helmets are certified for multiple sports, which have features such as removable pads, so you can easily transition from winter to summer. The following will guide you how to determine the size and choose the right helmet for you.

1. Measure your head circumference

Wrap a soft tape measure around 1 inch above the eyebrows and ears. Most helmets are measured in centimeters, so please measure your head in centimeters. For example, if the measured head circumference is 56 cm, you will wear a 56 cm helmet or a medium (55-58 cm) helmet according to the size ratio of the helmet.

No tape measure? Take a rope and wrap it around your head, then measure the rope.

2. Try it on

After receiving the helmet, put it on. The helmet should be comfortable. A properly worn helmet must always be attached to your head to prevent the helmet from moving around. No extra space between the helmet and the head is expected. Pay attention to see if there are any pressure or pain points.

3. Vibration test

Put on your helmet and shake your head. If the helmet moves on its own or shakes separately from the head, the helmet is too large. Use your hands to move the helmet up, down, left, and right. Your head skin should move with the helmet, and the helmet cannot move on its own. If you want, you can choose to buckle the straps of the helmet, but this will not affect the fitness of the actual helmet, so you only need to wear the helmet on your head.

4. Check carefully whether it is suitable

If your head feels squeezed or the helmet does not fit completely on your head, your helmet is too tight. It should be able to wear a helmet comfortably all day, so it is very important to choose the right size.
